Underground Services, Inc. (USI) is serving as a Subconsultant to Dewberry Engineers on a storm system improvement project in Hoboken, New Jersey. The project involves design and installation of two rain gardens and five underground stormwater detention tanks at several key intersections. USI’s role focuses on providing utility markouts and GPS surveys to assist with the design and implementation of the stormwater system while minimizing conflicts with existing underground utilities. USI performed precise utility markouts at various intersections throughout the city to identify and clearly delineate the location of existing underground utilities. Using advanced GPS technology, USI surveyed in the utility information to provide precise spatial data. USI compiled the data to provide detailed and accurate deliverables to support the project’s overall success.
USI is continuing to partner with Dewberry to provide test pits at several locations throughout the scope as needed. The test pits will provide more accurate depth and horizontal location information to aid in planning and construction. The data will provide crucial information to avoid conflicts with existing utilities further enhancing the ability to assess and address any potential conflicts with existing infrastructure.
